Where is Sint-Job-in-'t-Goor?
Sint-Job-in-'t-Goor is a district of the municipality of Brecht, in the north of the province of Antwerp. Brecht has three centres: Brecht itself, Sint-Lenaarts and Sint-Job-in-'t-Goor. Sint-Job, as everyone calls it, lies closest to Antwerp, between Schilde, Schoten, Brasschaat and Zoersel. The village sits on the Dessel-Schoten canal and directly on the E19, the motorway from Antwerp to Breda.
Around the village centre lie villa districts in the woods. Dennenlaan, where Villa Grandeur stands, is one of them: a quiet avenue of detached houses on generous plots, among the pine trees (dennen) that give the street its name.
The neighbouring municipalities
The northern edge of Antwerp is a string of green, prosperous municipalities. Anyone searching here usually looks at several villages at once.

Sport: golf, hockey, tennis and padel
Golf & Country Club Rinkven, one of Belgium's best-known golf clubs, is 10 to 15 minutes away. For hockey there are two top-level clubs nearby: Royal Antwerp Hockey Club and KHC Dragons in Brasschaat. You will find tennis and padel clubs in almost every village. Those who prefer walking or cycling can do so along the canal, through the woods of the Brechtse Heide or on the cycle-junction network of the Kempen.
Food, shopping and going out
For everyday shopping you never need to leave Sint-Job. For an evening out there are the brasseries and restaurants of Schilde, 's-Gravenwezel and Brasschaat, and approx. 15 min away lies Antwerp: fashion, museums, the river Scheldt, and more good restaurants than you could visit in a year. That may be the biggest difference from living in a Dutch village. You live in the woods, with a cosmopolitan city around the corner.
Schools and children
Flanders is known for its solid education. Sint-Job and the surrounding municipalities have primary and secondary schools, and the Antwerp region is home to international schools. Dutch-speaking children move in without a language barrier. Those who prefer to keep their children at school in the Netherlands can do so too: the train from Noorderkempen station runs directly to Breda.
Getting around
The slip road onto the E19 is a few minutes away. Heading north you reach Breda in approx. 25 min and Rotterdam in approx. 45 min; heading south, Antwerp in approx. 15 min. Noorderkempen station, on the high-speed line, is within the municipality itself. Read more about travel times to the Netherlands.
